2022 Jewell Taylor Scholarship Recipient: Emily Hogsett

  • Degree sought: Family and Consumer Sciences Education
  • Colorado State University
From Emily, "My passion for service and leadership began when I joined 4-H at eight years old. As I have grown older, I have realized how important both are to me as I am going into college in the fall of 2022. I hope to attend
Colorado State University to study Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Education. During high school, I have been very involved in many activities, but the one that has made the largest impact on me is Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). I joined FCCLA as a freshman and loved it. I helped with various leadership and community service activities within my school chapter and competed in a competitive event.

By being a teacher, I will be able to make an impact on the future society. FCS lessons are very important and needed throughout life. FCCLA and FCS have had a huge impact on my life, and I hope to do the same for future students. I want to be in education until I retire - whether that is in the classroom or in an administrative position. I want to dedicate the rest of my life to FCS education and making a difference in the world through it."
