Call for Proposals: Undergraduate Student Poster Presentations 

The Assembly of Higher Education (AHE) announces a call for research/project proposals from undergraduate students for poster presentation at the 2025 Annual Conference. Proposals may be submitted from research and/or course projects focused on: 

  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access. 
  • Advocacy, Leadership, and Collaboration 
  • Research and Scholarship. 
  • Technology and Trends 
  • Support and Resources for Emerging Professionals 
  • Educational Tools, Resources, and Strategies. 

Important Dates

Deadline: January 31, 2025 

Acceptance Notifications: February 28, 2025 

Abstracts may address any of the FCS-related content areas: 

Culinary arts, hospitality and tourism

Education and training 

Food science and nutrition  Health management and wellness 
Housing and interior design  Human/child development and family relations 
Personal and family finance  Textiles, apparel, and retailing 

Sustainable practices, consumerism, and leadership principles are woven throughout content areas. 

 

The Undergraduate Student Posters are coordinated by the AAFCS Assembly of Higher Education.  

Proposals should include the following information: 

  • Title of Student Research/Project 
  • Name of Student (include member number if an AAFCS member) 
  • Name and Title of Research/Project Advisor(s) 
  • Institution 
  • Preferred Mailing Address 
  • Email Addresses of All Authors 
  • Office and/or Cell Phone Numbers of All Authors 
  • Abstract of Research/Project (1-2 page maximum) Include the following: 
    • Purpose 
    • Objectives or Hypotheses 
    • Methods 
    • Results and Discussion (if available at time of submission) 
    • Summary or Conclusions (if available at time of submission) 

Review Criteria: Poster abstracts will be reviewed by a team of professionals and will be looking for: 

  • Clarity of the Proposal/Abstract
  • Substantive Significance of the Research/Project 
  • Methodological Quality of the Research/Project Design 
  • Alignment with AAFCS mission 
  • Timeliness of research problem/project 

Submission: The proposal application should be submitted by January 31, 2025 using the Undergraduate Poster Presentation portal link here.

Acceptance and Notification: Corresponding/First Authors will be notified of the status of their submission by February 28, 2025. If the submission is accepted, at least one (1) of the undergraduate student authors must register for and attend the conference to present their poster.

Student Stipends: A limited number of student stipends (up to $500) will be available to cover some of the costs of the experience. These stipends will be awarded on a competitive basis related to the submitted abstract and will be paid upon receipt of the reimbursement form and documentation of expenses.
