Walking Tour

Join AAFCS staff for a guided walking tour through downtown Kansas City, exploring the city’s rich history, architecture, and cultural landmarks. Attendees will experience a thoughtfully curated route featuring iconic sites such as The Folly Theater, The Majestic, and the Kansas City Garment District. Along the way, stops will highlight public art installations like The Needle, historic buildings including the Old New England Building and New York Life Building, and architectural gems such as the Midland Theatre and the Power and Light Building. The tour also includes notable locations like the Community Bookshelf Parking Garage, the William Thornton and Charlotte Crosby Kemper Memorial Fountain, and the historic Hotel Phillips. This engaging experience offers a unique look at Kansas City’s vibrant past and present, blending history, arts, and urban culture into an unforgettable excursion. And you will walk away from this tour with an exclusive souvenir!

Kansas City Community Tour - Waitlist (Full)

The Kansas City Community Tour at the annual conference offers attendees a unique opportunity to explore the city's impactful organizations and industries. Kicking off the tour begins with a visit to Pete’s Garden, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing food waste and supporting families in need. The journey continues with a tour of Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs, where attendees will learn about the organization’s sustainability initiatives and culinary efforts aimed at reducing waste and promoting local food sourcing. A meal is included in the cost of the tour, providing a chance to recharge before the excursion concludes with a guided tour of the Hallmark Visitors Center, where attendees will discover the company’s rich history, creative legacy, and contributions to the local community.
