Celebrate with Elevate - Monday Activities 

Kick off the week and Celebrate with Elevate! Decorate, have fun, and Elevate FCS! 

  • Create your own slide deck about FCS topics to share in class with your students.
  • Host a recipe exchange with friends! Distribute blank recipe cards. Everyone write their favorite recipes then exchange! 
  • Think about the future and set goals!
  • Did You Know? - Print these fun facts about AAFCS and display around your campus, classroom, or office to Elevate FCS!
  • Coloring Fun - Download our coloring page and get creative! Once you are finished designing, share your design on social media with AAFCS! 
  • Play AAFCS Jeopardy - Use the AAFCS Jeopardy to quiz students, friends, or coworkers on what they know about FCS! 
  • Play "Pop the Balloon" - Fill balloons with fun facts and trivia about FCS. Then inflate the balloons. Have people who want to learn more about FCS POP a balloon!

Where in the World is Ellen? - Tuesday Activities 

Celebrate Ellen Swallow Richards birthday! Ellen was born on December 3, 1842. We celebrate FCS Day every December 3rd to honor Ellen and all she has done for the profession! 

  • Post "Where in the World is Ellen?" on social media and share where you and Ellen are hanging out! 
  • Ellen Garment Costume - Design a new and updated look for Ellen! Bring Ellen into the 21st Century by updating her wardrobe! Join the contest! Submit your outfit by emailing here to be entered into a raffle! Submissions due by Tuesday Dec 3 and raffle on Friday Dec 6. 
  • Play "Pin the Hat on Ellen" - Ellen is late to her party! Download and print Ellen and her party hat. Cover your eyes and try to pin Ellen's party hat on her head so Ellen can get to her party and join the fun! 
  • Play "Ellen on the Shelf" - Create your Ellen. Move "Ellen" around the room and see what silly activities she gets herself into! 
  • Enjoy the comic story "Wonder Women of History: Ellen Swallow Richards" (pg 1, pg 2)

Memories that Motivate - Wednesday Activities 

Today we look back on all the wonderful memories we share in our profession. 
  • Share your FCS journey! Fill in the Timeline Template with the steps in your journey and celebrate how far you have come! 
  • DIY Picture Frame Station - Create a FCS picture frame station. Decorate picture frames with a group. Fill with pictures of your favorite memories! 
  • Share photos and videos from past conferences, events, educational and professional milestones, or any other moments that motivate you and others to keep growing! Share on social media, and don't forget to tag AAFCS! 
  • Create an FCS Time Capsule - Ask students what items they would put in an FCS time capsule and why. Create a virtual time capsule, or ask students to find and create these items to put in a container together.

Individuals that Impact - Thursday Activities 

Celebrate impactful people in the FCS field! 

  • Nominate the individuals who have impacted you! Honor the impactful people in our profession and follow along on AAFCS social media as we share out the individuals! 
  • Thank You Card Writing Station - Create a space for people to write thank you cards to send to the individuals who have had significant impact in their lives. Or send a note to a role model who is always there to encourage you!
