We invite you to discover the Heart of Kansas City’s Downtown & Historic Union Station - $35.00

First, tour Pete's Garden, a community and school-based program that provides take-home meals to food-insecure families using foods donated by local restaurants. Discover the process of collecting, processing, packaging and distribution of ready to eat meals to communities in need provided by Pete’s Garden.

Then, experience the vibrant energy of Downtown Kansas City! Take advantage of the free KC Streetcar as you travel through the Power & Light District considered KC’s epicenter for entertainment with several restaurants, live music and lively bars to River Market, the oldest neighborhood in downtown Kansas City, bustling with unique shops, local eateries and farmers markets on our way to Union Station for a guided tour.

At Union Station, see through the eyes of those who witnessed and shaped its history. Go back in time to the Station’s glorious opening in 1914 and experience memorable events that have shaped this iconic building including an infamous gangster massacre, tearful farewells and reunions of both world wars.

At the workshop, a special paper-based administration will provide an opportunity to sit for one of the following exams, each corresponding to one of the AAFCS professional certifications:

  • FCS Composite Exam:  CFCS - Certified in Family and Consumer Sciences
  • Human Development & Family Studies (HDFS Exam):  CFCS-HDFS - Certified in Human Development and Family Studies
  • Personal & Family Finance:  CPFFE- Certified Personal and Family Finance Educator
  • Nutrition and Wellness Educator:  CNWE – Certified Nutrition and Wellness Educator
