About the Session:
To bring clarity to the conversation around high-quality CTE and help CTE educators and administrators develop and improve the quality of their CTE programs of study, ACTE has created an evidence-based framework defining high-quality CTE across 12 elements. This Webinar will provide an overview of ACTE’s Quality CTE Program of Study Framework and how it might be applied to FCS programs. You’ll learn about the related self-evaluation tools and resources, and key ways the Framework can help to meet Perkins V’s requirements for data-driven decision-making through the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment.
After the webinar, participants will:
- Know the standard elements that make up a high-quality CTE program of study.
- Understand how to apply the Framework to their individual programs for program improvement purposes.
- Recognize how the Framework can be applied to requirements of Perkins V.
About the Presenter(s):
Dr. Alisha Hyslop has spent almost 20 years working with career and technical education and is currently the Director of Public Policy at the Association for Career and Technical Education. At ACTE, Alisha leads the organizations’ legislative, advocacy and research efforts that cover both secondary and postsecondary policy issues, and is particularly involved in efforts related to the Perkins Act. She also led ACTE’s work to define a quality CTE program of study framework. Previously she worked with the Florida House of Representatives and with career and technical student organizations on a local, state and national level.
Alisha received her Bachelor’s in Public Relations and Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Florida State University, her Master’s in Career and Technical Education from Virginia Tech University, and her Ph.D. in Career and Workforce Education from the University of South Florida.
